High Fidelity simulation helps teams and individuals develop preparedness and insight that is best learned and practiced in realistic conditions.
Scenarios are based on real cases and are selected to specifically address the identified learning goals of our participants. These experiences enable the participants to:
- Develop a higher level of awareness of their current practices
- Experience alternative management strategies in a safe environment
- Achieve greater and deeper learning of course objectives
These scenarios include both:
These experiences will be set in a high fidelity clinical environment where the participants will interact with simulated patients (actors/manikins). These scenarios are often targeted at improving particular skills or emergency drills that the specialists use in their work environment.
Crisis and Communication scenarios
Here participants experience dynamic human behaviour and decision-making during crises in a true to life clinical setting. This allows them to expand their existing knowledge and skills in an interactive and supportive environment.
Our world leading facilities enable the recreation of real life scenarios that encourage the participants to engage even further with the learning outcomes alongside their peers.
Communication scenarios are delivered with professional actors who engage fully and allow for powerful outcomes. Due to the emotional responses elicited, these crisis scenarios often become key anchor points for learning objectives for the entire simulation experience.
Each scenario session is accompanied by a debriefing led by our specialist educators.
A vital stage in the professionals' development; post scenario debriefing sessions are an opportunity to analyse the observations, successes, challenges and decision-making experienced in the scenarios. Both observers and participants contribute to identifying the key learning objectives and take-away knowledge.
This session allows for an integration of the learning experience encouraging ongoing thought and action beyond the event.
Expert Led Discussions
These small group breakout sessions provide opportunities for experts engaged by PSR to directly connect with doctors in an informal and comfortable setting. Our ongoing post course evaluation shows that the doctor participants value this time to ask questions on a more collegiate basis.
These sessions are ideal for case based discussions, debating of contentious issues and in-depth analysis of various areas of literature.
